Welcome to 2022--23!
Back To School Night--9/16 (CW)
Welcome Back!!
Dear Students and Parents,
It is with much gratitude that we--students, parents, and teachers, worked hard to finish this unusual school year. I cannot express enough to tell you how privileged I am to be your teacher to witness these historical moments with you and your family, and I hope you will be able to learn more about Chinese teacher and Chinese class this school year.
Classroom Rules and Grading Policy
Classroom Conduct: - CUSD Dress Code, Cell Phone, and IPod Policies will be enforced
1. Be in your assigned seat when the tardy bell rings.
No personal grooming, eating, drinking, or gum chewing!
3. Stay in assigned seat until the bell.
Due Date Policy:
v All homework/ class work is due to the teacher when specified by the teacher (e.g. at the beginning of the next class period, at the end of the period, or one week from today). Students who do not turn in assignments on time will receive a “0” grade on that assignment.
v Projects will be accepted late for a lesser grade after the parent has contacted the teacher by phone (327-2000 AM/327-3253 PM).
v Students missing school are allowed the opportunity to make up work for full credit providing the work is completed in time units equal to the number of days absent from class. This rule applies to excused absences only.
Exceptions:
1. School Activities/ Sports – Students who miss class for a school function must turn in their homework when the assignment is due unless prior arrangements have been made with the teacher.
2. Partial Absences – Students who miss half of the school day or a single period absence from class are accountable for all assignments due to the teacher for that day.
3. Long term illnesses or absences – Students, who suffer long term illness or absence, as verified by the school administration, will be allowed the opportunity to make up all work over a longer period of time. The student should make every effort to contact me for assignments during his/her illness.
4. Tests, quizzes, projects – Tests, quizzes, and projects, are announced far enough in advance so that students who have been absent within a testing week are still accountable for that test, quiz, or project upon their return providing that the test date or due date was announced when the student was present. Students who miss tests or quizzes must assume responsibility for the making up of the grade.
Cheating, Plagiarisms, Truancies
Any student who is caught cheating or plagiarizing any graded assignment or test will be given a “0”. Any student who misses any graded assignment or test because of truancy will be given a “0” on the missed assignments/ tests that are due or given.
Grading Policy: The grading policy follows the policy set forth by the Foreign Language Department.
40 % : assessment (tests, quizzes, finals)
20 % : homework (journal)
20 % : unit projects
20 % : class work/participation
